We will explore the power of being vulnerable and courageous and the craft elements that make a story come alive. How do we handle writing about people we know and how do we write honestly about ourselves? How can we take care of ourselves when writing about difficult or painful topics and where is the line between truth-telling and writing skill?

Writing to Wholeness Community Conversation
Join creators Elena & Wendy in conversation about their project, "Writing to Wholeness: Workshops to transform lives and communities."
The project "Writing to Wholeness: Workshops to transform lives and communities" began in January 2020. Throughout the year, we offered writing workshops to survivors of gender-based violence, focused on expression, reflection and community building.
In this Community Conversation, we want to share the process and experience of facilitating the workshops. The workshops gathered survivors to read poetry and prose, write short creative pieces, and share together. Initially, the workshops were hosted in person in partnership with Tubman advocacy services, and due to COVID-19, the rest of the workshops were conducted virtually. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Writing is a way to listen to the deepest self and inner voice of wisdom. What tools enable us to access the deep voice of guidance? What stories do we feel compelled to share? How is writing to heal different from journaling?
